About Lansdowne

Founded in 1993, Lansdowne RFC is a registered 501(c) non-profit organization, meaning all contributions to
the club is fully tax deductible. Lansdowne has its roots and reputation across the East Coast of the United
States as the Irish Rugby Club. Founded by Irish immigrants, the club has since become a very diverse organization, with players and staff that sometimes literally represent nations across the globe. Lansdowne has a
first team coach with experience in playing professional rugby in England, South Africa, and the U.S.A. Lansdowne has grown a lot in the past decade, with over 50 currently registered players, and 2 adult squads competing in Empire GU Divisions 2 and 4.

Lansdowne has had a lot of success on the pitch, winning league titles and being a perennial competitor in
every competition they enter. In recent years, the club won the 2019 Empire GU Division 3 championship, won
the 2021 5 Boroughs Cup with a perfect record, earning promotion into Division 2, finishing as a close runners-
up, while the 2nd squad qualified for the playoffs.

Lansdowne also has a major following, and is the most innovative rugby club in the country. The club boasts
attendance of 50-200 at most home games. Lansdowne became the first amateur club in North America to
professionally livestream all of their matches on social media, and is still the only rugby club, amateur or professional, to stream their matches simultaneously on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Twitch. In the past season, the club has had a combined following of 2,500 people across all platforms, reached 18,000 viewers across the world, and an additional 5,000 people on our social media platforms. News and updates are
regularly posted on our website, lansdownerfcny.com, and distributed via email blasts. We also occasionally
receive media coverage in outlets such as “The Irish Voice,” the “Irish Emigrant,” and the “Gaelic American.”
Lansdowne RFC apparrel are also well consumed, and recognized across the NYC area.
